Taiga

Taiga is an embossed chrome-tanned calfskin, as thick as cowhide yet with an even, fine grain—sturdy enough to cut bag straps and belts from a single solid strip.

Pick up a hide, and the first thing you notice is the weight—noticeably heavier than the calfskins you are used to. The surface is fully embossed, diffusing light with no flat, glossy spots; minor scratches blend into the grain, far less visible than on smooth leather. The temper is firm and solid in the hand, with no drape or slouch.

Choose Taiga when you need a hide that both holds its shape and takes weight. Bags with straps work best: cut both the body and straps from the same hide for an exact match in color and grain. Belts, briefcases, or structured bags benefit just as much—holding their structure without extra stiffeners. A solid, single-piece strap has no glued seams to split down the road; for daily-carry goods, that is the real payoff.

One thing to know before ordering: this is a thick hide. It demands a sharp blade, a steady hand, and more effort to punch stitching holes. If you want to layer it for wallets, you will need to skive down the thickness. And this leather stays true to its original color—if you love leather that develops a patina over time, opt for a veg-tan line instead.
