Pueblo leather through the lens
About Pueblo
Pueblo leather is a signature vegetable-tanned (veg-tan) cowhide from the renowned Badalassi Carlo tannery (Tuscany, Italy). Distinguished by a rustic scuffed surface resembling matte nap, Pueblo is a symbol of the most vivid patina art in the craft leather world.
Key features:
- Unique scuffed effect: The surface is hand-scuffed at the tannery into spontaneous fine streaks, giving it a distinctive pleasant, fine tooth to the touch.
- Dramatic patina capability: Thanks to its natural oil-rich structure, high-friction areas quickly smooth out, deepen in color, and take on a beautiful amber sheen.
- Tuscan vegetable-tanned aroma: The unmistakable, rustic earthy scent from tree bark soaked in tanning for weeks.
Specifications & sales policy at Kit Leather:
- Original thickness: Approximately 1.4 – 1.6 mm, medium temper, easy to bend.
- Retail price: 365,000 VND / pia (30×30 cm).
- Cut options: Retail cuts available from a minimum of 3 pia from whole hides (Double Shoulder).
- Workshop service: 100% FREE leather splitting on a 40 cm machine, precise down to the millimeter.
- Optimal applications: Bifold wallets, cardholders, passport covers, and everyday handheld notebook covers.
Crafting tips for workshop makers:
- Moisture protection on the workbench: The leather absorbs water very quickly, and water droplets will leave dark rings; keep the assembly workbench surface completely dry.
- Edge burnishing: Use Tokonole burnishing gum for high-gloss edges; you can then rub with beeswax to enhance water resistance along the borders.
