About Togo / Odessa Calf
Togo leather (international trade name: Odessa Calf) is the renowned chrome-tanned, natural pebble-grain male calfskin leather line from the Weinheimer tannery (Germany). It is among the most popular and preferred leather lines worldwide for high-end soft-structured bag designs by Hermès.
Technical specifications & standard characteristics:
- Natural shrunken pebble grain: The grain forms naturally from the shrinkage of leather fibers during drum tumbling, rather than heat or plate embossing. Each hide features a plump, supple hand and a unique grain pattern.
- Temper: Medium-soft (plump and resilient with great bounce without sagging, holding the shape of soft bags exceptionally well).
- Scratch resistance & durability: The supple, rounded pebble grain surface easily conceals everyday scuffs and scratches, making it easy to maintain and restore.

Calfskin
Calfskin has finer fibers and is thinner than cowhide, with an even surface and fewer marks. Suitable for small leather goods, wallets, notebook covers, and areas requiring thin folded edges. The trade-off is smaller hides and higher prices.
