About Sully Tuning
Sully Tuning is goatskin on a Sully base with a specialized surface finish—consistently thin with a predetermined thickness, so there is no need to skive.
Outwardly, Tuning looks like other Sully goatskin lines: natural fine pebbled grain, with a finished surface that is smooth rather than raw; it feels firm and full in the hand. The difference lies in its consistent thickness across the entire hide, set from the start—hold it and you will notice it is significantly flatter than familiar cowhide wallets.
The biggest advantage is that you do not have to skive, the most error-prone step in leathercraft: over-skiving ruins a freshly cut piece, and an uneven skive leaves ridges when stacking layers. Goatskin fibers are tightly interlocked, so it remains tear-resistant even when thin.
Keep one limitation in mind: this leather line is too thin for load-bearing exteriors—do not use it for bag straps or belts; leave that to thick cowhide. It also lacks temper, and edges practically cannot be burnished, so in practice you turn or bind the edges. The color is stable and does not develop patina over time.

French leather in stock leans toward calfskin and goatskin: smaller hides, smooth grain, thin substance — well-suited for small leather goods and work requiring sharp stitching.

Lightweight and thin, yet surprisingly tough thanks to tightly interwoven fibers. Natural fine pebbled grain, soft in the hand. Commonly used for linings, slim wallets, and items that need to be light yet durable.
