Dollaro leather through the lens
About Dollaro
Dollaro leather is a high-end vegetable-tanned (veg-tan) cowhide leather line from the Conceria Walpier tannery (Tuscany, Italy). Technically, Dollaro is the famed Buttero base heat-embossed with a raised pebbled grain combined with a subtle two-tone finish.
Technical specifications & world-class characteristics:
- Firm Buttero base (firm temper): Sourced from bull double shoulders (doppie spalle) with an ultra-dense fiber structure. Thanks to the Buttero core, Dollaro maintains its shape perfectly, without turning loose or spongy like typical embossed chrome-tanned leather lines.
- Scratch-resistant pebbled grain: Uniformly raised round pebbles disguise everyday scuffs from fingernails or keys, completely solving the scratch sensitivity of smooth Buttero.
- Patina development: Although embossed, it remains 100% veg-tan at its core—the leather absorbs hand oils and darkens with a rich patina over time.
- Edge finishing: Burnishes to a high gloss with Tokonole gum or takes edge paint with clean, excellent results.
Optimal applications for leathercrafters:
- Structured wallets, card holders, and clutches that need to maintain their exact shape through years of use.
- Box-structure bags, high-end notebook covers, and scratch-resistant watch straps.
💡 Kit Leather advantages: Available cut from 3 pia (30×30 cm). 100% FREE splitting on a 40 cm machine to your exact required thickness (1.0 mm, 1.2 mm...). Fast 1–2 hour delivery within Ho Chi Minh City.
